Level 2 Industrial Labs is a design/build fabrication company located in the Dog Patch / Mission Bay region of San Francisco. For over 25 years we have remained dedicated to designing and building interactive art, museum exhibits and custom solutions for retail and architectural installations. In those years we have gained substantial knowledge in material science, fabrication techniques and inventive ways to build things. We have created a fabrication environment dedicated to mastering the complex process of turning napkin sketch ideas into reality.

OUR APPROACH
The reality of custom fabrication starts with a strong audit process into our customers ultimate desired results. For us that means a deep dive on understanding the folks interacting with exhibits or the end customer’s needs for design, aesthetic, and material costs. From there we move into a development phase which requires constant evaluation from outside design, engineering, and architectural teams. Being based in San Francisco we can quickly produce first-article concepts within hours compared to days or weeks when dealing with overseas vendors. We are involved in every step of the process and make sure to communicate change orders to clients along the way. The minute we start working on a project we are designing it to be the most efficient and sustainable possible. Our capacity can handle the smallest “one-off” project all the way up to global retail networks of thousands of stores. Over the last three decades we have worked with some of the largest retail brands and corporations on earth.

INDUSTRIAL DESIGN
In tandem with our extensive materials library we work with the latest design software to match modern feel with in depth 3D models. Our industrial design is managed in such a way that seamlessly transfers direct to fabrication, eliminating the need to re-draw files which often becomes the case when sending renderings out of house.
MATERIALS LIBRARY
Our team sources materials from all over the world. Many times, our innovations in design come from the very knowledge of the material and its method of production. When we can’t find the material we are looking for, we try to create it ourselves leveraging a vendor list that took thirty years to build. As an L2 client you can reference and draw inspiration from this extensive materials library.
CUSTOM CRATING
We understand limitations in shipping large installations and we take the extra time to design projects to be crated in the most efficient method possible. This saves cost on shipping but also takes into consideration how to get it into your environment once it arrives on your end. We make sure to consult with clients on limitations they might have in door size, stairways, elevators to make sure that the projects we fabricate for them can make it to their end destination in an easy fashion.
CUSTOM FABRICATION
With 10,000 sq ft of fabrication equipment we’re able to create just about anything. Over the past decade we have produced hundreds of projects for both individual as well as corporate clients. Most everything is under NDA so unfortunately we can’t show it off on our website but when we meet in person we can share our portfolio of work.
